Hi, I’m Josep,
I started photography when I was around 12 years old with a small film camera — it was more of a game. Simply a way to capture a moment (a camping trip, a day of fishing, ...).
Years later my father let me look through his reflex camera — it was like peering into a magical world, with that moving needle and the little dial full of numbers.
Before I was eighteen I had already learned, self-taught, how to develop film rolls at home.
I studied engineering at university, and during those years I kept taking photos.
It was in 2007 that I decided to ‘formally’ study photography. First I completed the Professional Photography course at the CEF (Centre d’Estudis Fotogràfics), and in the following years I graduated at the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny.
Although photography is not my main profession, it is my main form of artistic creation.
I like to capture the spontaneity of the person in front of me, to make them feel comfortable, just as they are. I like to think we are creating together. I try to make photography that feels timeless, with few elements, focused on the subject I’m working with.
